2010 NFL Mock Draft

This mock draft is based on what I think will happen. I have another on what should happen, so stay tuned!

1. St Louis RamsNdamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska – Suh is the safest pick in the draft. No player dominated this past season like he did.

2. Detroit LionsRussell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State – The Lions need to protect their franchise quarterback, Matthew Stafford. And no, Jeff Backus isn’t going to do it.

3. Tampa Bay BuccaneersGerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma – The Bucs have to improve on their rush defense. McCoy is the second best available defensive tackle and would improve the league’s worst run defense.

4. Washington Redskins - Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame – With Jason Campbell unlikely to return next season, the Skins need to find their QB of the future. Due to the shoulder injury to Sam Bradford, Clausen is the #1 QB entering the draft.

5. Kansas City ChiefsBruce Campbell, OT, Maryland – You can’t win games if you can’t protect your quarterback. Kansas City gave up 45 sacks last year which is why they’re picking in the top five yet again.

6. Seattle SeahawksEric Berry, S, Tennessee – For a team 30th in the NFL in pass defense, a former Jim Thorpe award winner would be a huge upgrade.

7. Cleveland BrownsJoe Haden, CB, Florida – Haden is the best corner in the draft and the Browns only had ten interceptions last season.

8. Oakland RaidersAnthony Davis, OT, Rutgers – Who knows what Al Davis is capable doing, but he needs to focus on rebuilding this offensive line.

9. Buffalo Bills – Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma – Anyone else tired of this QB carousel? The Bills need a QB, no questions asked.

10. Jacksonville JaguarsDerrick Morgan, DE,  Georgia Tech – The Jags only sacked the opposing quarterbacks 14 times last year. The need someone to apply pressure on the QB.

11. Denver Broncos - Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State – With the possible departure of Brandon Marshall, the Broncos will need someone to step up and take his place.

12. Miami Dolphins - Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama - With the Dolphins aging linebackers, someone is going to have to step in eventually.

13. San Francisco 49ersTrent Williams, OT, Oklahoma – Right tackle Adam Snyder allowed 9.5 sacks last season. I’d say that can’t happen again.

14. Seattle Seahawks - Charles Brown, OT, USC - No surprise Pete Carroll takes his former player to become the leader of the O-line.

15. New York GiantsBrian Price, DT, UCLA – The defense was very mediocre all year, but they were 30th in points allowed per game. Have to rebuild in the trenches.

16. San Francisco 49ersDonovan Warren, CB, Michigan – If this secondary can start creating more turnovers, this defense becomes one of the elites.

17. Tennessee Titans - Everson Griffen, DE, USC – The Titans need a young defensive end to replace Jevon Kearse and Kyle Vanden Bosch.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers - Earl Thomas, S, Texas - We saw the struggles of this defense without Troy Polamalu, secondary help is a position they must address.

19. Atlanta FalconsKyle Wilson, CB, Bosie State – A great Senior Bowl elevates Wilson into the first round, helping a defense that ranked 28th in passing yards allowed per game.

20. Houston TexansC.J Spiller, RB, Clemson – Houston was 30th in the NFL in rushing yards last year. Slaton had a huge drop off and no one seemed to step up in his place. If the Texans converted on a few of those 4th and goals, they might have made the playoffs.

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma – Gresham is a first round talent no doubt, but his knee injury might keep him out of the first round. I think Cincy should go receiver here, but it would be a stretch for any of the remaining receivers left.

22. New England Patriots - Brandon Graham, LB, Michigan – Graham’s stocked improved the most from the Senior Bowl. The Pats could use a linebacker to pressure the opposing quarterback.

23. Green Bay PackersBryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa – The Packers offensive line is horrible and the tackle position needs to be upgraded ASAP.

24. Philadelphia EaglesCarlos Dunlap, DE, Florida – Defensive end is a need for the Eagles, but I’m not sure if I like this pick. Dunlap is a great talent, but Andy Reid can’t even control his own kids let alone the responsibilities of Dunlap, too. I think addressing the offensive line is priority number one. Maybe Mike Iupati?

25. Baltimore Ravens - Damian Williams, WR, USC - Derrick Mason is old, and Mark Clayton is… well… Mark Clayton. They already have a great running game and a great defense, receiver is their biggest need.

26. Arizona CardinalsSean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri – Jermaine Gresham would be great for the Cards as he would be the ‘security blanket’ for Leinart. Weatherspoon is still a great fit for this aging linebacking core, though.

27. Dallas CowboysSergio Kindle, LB, Texas – Kindle is a very gifted athlete who would thrive in the Cowboys’ 3-4 system.

28. San Diego Chargers - Javid Best, RB, California – With L.T. unlikely to return next season, the Chargers need to replace one of the games “best.” Get it? Haha!

29. New York JetsDan Williams, DT, Tennessee - Kris Jenkins isn’t getting any younger and a true nose tackle isn’t easy to find.

30. Minnesota VikingsTerrence Cody, DT, Alabama – Big Mt. Cody can be the replacement for Pat Williams. At 6-4, 360 lb.+, there’s no running on that.

31. Indianapolis ColtsBrandon Ghee, CB, Wake Forest – Brandon Ghee would provide a spark that this secondary is lacking.

32. New Orleans SaintsJason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida – The inability to rush the passer outside of Will Smith forces the Saints to draft a DE here.
