BCS Run Over:

8 Oregon lost at Stanford 51-42 effectively ending their BCS Title hopes.

4 Iowa was knocked out of national championship contention with a loss to Northwestern 17-10.  Ricky Stanzi left the game in the 2nd quarter with a sprained ankle.

Even though both teams lost, they are both still first in their conferences and, if they win out, will meet in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1st.

Surviving A Scare:

It took a touchdown run by Josh Nesbit in overtime to lift Georgia Tech over Wake Forrest 30-27 and keep them in control of the ACC Coastal.

It took a missed 2 pt. conversion by UConn to keep Cincinnati perfect.  The Bearcats won 47-45 at home.

Other Notables:

Navy upset 22 Notre Dame 23-21.  The Midshipmen have beaten the Irish for the 2nd time in 3 years after losing the previous 43 meetings dating back to 1963.

Alabama looked very good against 9 LSU.  They remained undefeated, but more importantly clinched the SEC West and set up a rematch of last year’s SEC Championship Game.

16 Ohio State beat 11 Penn State 24-7 in College Station.  The Buckeyes win sets up a de facto Big 10 Championship Game in Columbus next week.

Shout Outs:

LeGarrette Blount, congratulations on being reinstated.  Now keep your hands to yourself, no more watching UFC, and no, having Ron Artest as a hero is never a good idea.

Brandon Spikes, good job on pulling yourself out of the Vanderbilt game.  Not really on Meyer’s side for only suspending you for half a game, but I believe you did the right thing yourself.

VIP In The Club:Northwestern Logo

  • Toby Gerhart, the Stanford running back rushed for 233 yards on 38 carries and 3 touchdowns in the Cardinal’s win over the Ducks.  The 233 yards is a Stanford record.
  • Northwestern knocked Iowa from the ranks of the unbeaten in Iowa City.  After going down 10-0 the Wildcats scored 17 unanswered points en route to a victory.

Kicked Out The Club:

  • Michigan, after starting the season 4-0 they have since gone 1-5.  They now need to win either at 20 Wisconsin this Saturday or at home vs. 11 Ohio State in two weeks to become bowl eligible.michigan-logo
  • Letter to Oklahoma, you can’t go 0-3 on 4th downs, miss two FG’s, have another blocked, and have your quarterback throw 5 interceptions and expect to win a game.

The SEC Championship Game is set.  No one wants to win the Big 12 North or the ACC Atlantic.  Also I expect we will start to hear lobbying on who should be in the BCS Title Game.  Hope you had a great Monday, happy Tuesday.

    Spurrier is captivated lol.

On a different note, no way should the guy from Oregon be reinstated. He should be kicked off the team.

I’m glad he got reinstated. I think he understands what he did was wrong, also he was acting out of emotion. He shouldn’t have been kicked off the team, and Oregon Athletics did the right thing by reinstating him.
