Reasons Why The Bucs WILL Go Winless

Seeing that the Bucs are on their bye and nearly at the midpoint of what has been a dreadful season, this is a perfect time to check out what’s still in store.  I’m going to warn you, it ain’t pretty.  Here are Club Seat’s Top 5 Reasons Why The Bucs WILL Go Winless.

5. Josh Freeman shaved the afro.

Freeman’s fro was about the only thing the Bucs had going for them in ’09.  With the afro goes any chance for a W.

4. Speaking of Josh Freeman, he’s now the starter.

Throwing a rookie into the fire when the team is 0-7 always bodes well.

3. First pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Playoffs are obviously out of the picture.  Let’s get that first pick!  The Bucs have more holes than a spaghetti strainer, so just about any position is available for selection.  Here’s a little taste of what’s in store:

  • DT: Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska), Terrence Cody (Alabama), Gerald McCoy (Oklahoma)
  • S: Eric Berry (Tennessee), Taylor Mays (USC)
  • WR: Dez Bryant (Oklahoma State)
  • OL: Russell Okung (Oklahoma State)
  • LB: Brandon Spikes (Florida)
  • DE: Gregg Hardy (Ole Miss), Carlos Dunlap (Florida), Ricky Sapp (Clemson), George Selvie (USF)

2. The numbers

The Bucs are giving up an average of 29.0 points, 162.4 rushing yards and 376.4 total yards per game defensively.  Offensively it doesn’t look too much better: 13.7 points and 272.3 total yards per game.

19761. The remaining schedule.

Five of the remaining nine games are divisional (two against the Saints, two more against the Falcons, and one against the Panthers).  The Panthers are the second worst team in the division, but the Bucs play them in Carolina and they’ve already lost to them in Tampa.

The four games outside of the division come against the Packers, Dolphins, Jets and Seahawks (the games against Miami and Seattle are on the road for those thinking that there were possibilities there).

Week four against Washington was there only shot to win a game this year and they blew it.  Congrats on your second defeated season in franchise history, Tampa Bay!  Now those on the ’76 team can sleep easy.
