It’s almost unfair to try to list a top five since there are so many great ones to chose from. After much thought, here are Club Seat’s Top 5 Football Movies of All-Time.
5. Friday Night Lights (2004)
” Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didn’t let them down, because you told them the truth. And that truth is that you did everything that you could. There wasn’t one more thing that you could’ve done. Can you live in that moment, as best you can, with clear eyes and love in your heart? With joy in your heart? If you can do that, gentlemen, then you’re perfect. ”
4. The Program (1993)
” I don’t know, its the battle, the going to war with the other guys, hanging together, having our own dorm, staying in hotels the night before the games, setting ourselves apart, being different than everybody else, having a chance to be somebody, to do something that people look up to you for, your strength, your courage. Not everybody can play football….. We’re the lucky ones. ”
3. Brian’s Song (1971)
” I love Brian Piccolo. And tonight, when you hit your knees, please ask God to love him. ”
2. Remember The Titans (2000)
” You will wear a jacket, shirt, and tie. If you don’t have one buy one, can’t afford one then borrow one from your old man, if you don’t have an old man, then find a drunk, trade him for his. ”
1. Rudy (1993)
“You’re 5 foot nothin’, 100 and nothin’ and you have nearly a speck of athletic ability. And you hung in there with the best college football team in the land for two years. And you’re gonna walk outta here with a degree from the University of Notre Dame. In this life, you don’t have to prove nothin’ to nobody but yourself.” – And of course, “Rudy, Rudy, Rudy, Rudy…”

Other greats: Any Given Sunday, The Waterboy, North Dallas Forty, Radio, We Are Marshall, The Longest Yard (1974, 2004), Jerry Maguire, Varsity Blues, Necessary Roughness, Invincible, Paper Lion, Wildcats, Heaven Can Wait, The Replacements, The Junction Boys, Little Giants.

Sadly, I’ve never seen Friday Night Lights or The Program, lol. Good thing you made this list so now I know what I need to go rent!
Dude,
Have you seen the original “Longest Yard?”
I’m assuming not otherwise it would be on this list.
It is, it’s under “other greats” at the bottom of the post. Yes I have, great movie! The remake was cool too, but in a different kind of way. Friday Night Lights was great, it was a toss up for the last spot though between that and Any Given Sunday. I liked both a lot.
Brian’s Song was very good. Don’t forget “Caddy Shack” for the gophers (golfers)
Junction Boys is good. What about that new movie that just came out not to long ago “the express” about Ernie Davis. That movie was sick.
Caddy Shack?? haha for Football Movies? Caddy Shack was great, but no football movie.
Sorry Hren gotta disagree. Rudy was good, but not the best of all time. I’d have to say it’s between Remember the Titans and Friday Night Lights (and no not because I’m a Titans fan). The great thing about Friday Night Lights is it was just straight football, no extraneous underlying stories like race or underdogs. So I think it goes:
1 Remember the Titans
2 Friday Night Lights
3 Rudy
4 Brian’s Song
5 The Program
What about Air Bud?
Air Bud… Really…? Actually, the football one was the second Air Bud movie which was a huge hit that went straight to DVD. lol. not worthy of top 5 talk. Sorry little Billy.
Let me help finish Billy’s sentence:
Air Bud. . . .Is not anywhere close to the greatest football movies of all time and shouldn’t be anywhere near this list. It’s presence as a comment is offensive enough.
The replacements you fools
shit and any given sunday
I cant believe you guys left out one of the all time greats and a movie i can quote in my sleep…. Varsity Blues.
