Road To The WS: ALCS Preview

  • angels1yanks1New York Yankees vs. LA Angels

Season Series: Tied 5-5

Yanks win if…

They get the pitching they paid big for this offseason in Sabathia and Burnett.  Chances are we’ll see these both pitch more than once.

Angels win if…

They don’t get beat by the long ball.  Problem is, while the Yanks dig the long ball, Saunders and Weaver serve ‘em up like BP with 55 given up between the two this year.  The Yanks are only hitting .225 this postseason but swept the Twins by going deep 6 times.  Nine of their 15 runs scored during the series came from home runs.

Yanks’ X-Factor: C.C. Sabathia (again)

Will will see a lot of him during this series and he’s going to have to be like the Sabathia we saw against the Twins, and not the one we’ve seen get ripped throughout his playoff career.  Keep in mind he lost both of his starts against the Angels this season.

Angels’ X-Factor: Chone Figgins

The Angels’ speedy leadoff man didn’t even record a single hit during the 3-game sweep of Boston (0-12).  There’s no way the team can expect to win if Figgins does more of that.

Prediction

Yanks choke again and the Angels take it in 7!
