End Of The Year Awards: AL

  • mauer
  • MVP

Who should win it: Joe Mauer - In only 138 games Mauer hit 28 home runs and drove in 96 runs.  He led the league in batting average hitting .365 and led the Twins to an AL Central division title.  No doubt if you take this guy off the Twins they do not make the playoffs.  He is the most valuable player to any team no question.

Who will win it: Mark Teixeira - Tex hit .292 with 39 home runs with 122 RBIs.  Playing for the team who had the best record in baseball and playing in New York gives him the award.

Big ups to: Miguel Cabrera, Kendry Morales, Adam Lind, and Aaron Hill

  • CY Young

Who should win it: Zack Greinke - Greinke was the most dominant pitcher in baseball all year long and his league leading 2.16 ERA proves that.  He won 16 games this season and there were six games where he allowed three or fewer runs and either the bullpen blew the game, or they just didn’t score.  He potentially could have won 22 games…on the Royals.

Who will win it: Zack Greinke - He’s not on the best team, but that’s what makes his numbers that much better.

Big ups to: Felix Hernandez, Roy Halladay, Justin Verlander, C.C Sabathia

  • niemannRookie of the Year

Who should win it: Jeff Niemann - Niemann was the ace of the Rays all year going 13-6 with two complete game shutouts.  He fanned 125 batters in 180 innings while only walking 59.  He wasn’t unstoppable, but he was effective and got the job done.

Who will win it: Jeff Niemann - Finally something Rays fans can cheer about.

Big ups to: Andrew Bailey, Elvis Andrus, Rick Porcello, Gorgon Beckham
