* Prediction record for season: 6-4
In The Club:
Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams vs. Falcons:
The Carolina Panthers were absolutely embarrassed in week one against the Eagles. Williams only managed to rush for 37 yards on 14 carries after gaining 31 yards and a touchdown on Carolina’s opening possession. In 2008 DeAngelo rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown. Look for the Carolina running back to come out on all cylinders in week two.
Projected: 17 car, 79 yds, 4 rec, 32 yds, 1 td
Bears TE Greg Olsen vs. Steelers:
Only one word can describe the Bear’s offense last week: disappointing. Olsen only managed to connect with Cutler once for 8 yards. This week Chicago is playing the Steelers whose defense is anything but disappointing, but with Troy Polamalu out it might open up the field a little. The Steelers are going to shut down the run and force Cutler to look to the passing game. Look for the Cutler/Olsen combo to connect a few times and a score.
Projected: 5 rec, 48 yds, 1 td
Redskins RB Clinton Portis vs. Rams:
Look for Clinton Portis to bounce back with a strong performance against the Rams. Last week JULIUS JONES ran for 117 yards and a score. This looks promising for Portis against a weak run defense.
Projected: 22 car, 103 yds, 3 rec, 11 yds, 1 td
Out The Club:
Lions RB Kevin Smith vs. Vikings:
Kevin Smith is a scrappy back in the fantasy world. He will run for a little yards, catch a few passes out of the backfield, and maybe punch it in from a few yards out, but I don’t think that will happen this week. The Minnesota defense held Cleveland to only 89 yards on the ground in week one and I think the Browns’ run game is on the same level if not above the Lions’ run game. Look for Detroit’s woes to continue in search for a win.
Projected: 18 car, 54 yds, 5 rec, 28 yds
Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson:
Thomlinson struggled last week against a team that he has dominated in the past. To add to LT’s downward trend he has an injured ankle which may affect his chances of playing this week. He is facing a stingy Baltimore defense who only gave up 29 yards on the ground in week one.
Projected: 14 car, 43 yds, 3 rec, 19 yds
Cowboys QB Tony Romo vs. Giants:
I know, I know… Romo not in the club after a 300-yard, 3-touchdown, no pic day in the season opener? Romo is playing the New York Giants in week two who are looking to put a lot more pressure on the Dallas QB than the Bucs did in week one. With a revamped defense and their star defensive lineman Osi Umenyiora back at 100 percent, the Giants will give Romo some trouble.
Projected: 15/28, 246 yds, 2 tds, 2 ints
Sleepers:
Raiders WR Louis Murphy vs. Chiefs:
Gotta show some love to my former Gator on this pick. Murphy had a great rookie debut against the Chargers. He had 4 grabs for 87 yards and a touchdown (could have had 2 scores had one not got overturned). Not to mention that he seems to be a favorite of JaMarcus Russell who targeted him 9 times in the game. Murphy plays Kansas City in week 2 who got lit up for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air in week one. He will be a nice felx play if you have the spot.
Projected: 5 rec, 79 yds
Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw vs. Cowboys:
Last week the Bucs ran the ball very well against the Cowboys with 160 yards on 31 carries and two scores. Last week Bradshaw led his team in rushing. The tandem they have with power back Brandon Jacobs is going to give the Dallas defense some problems, especially in the red zone.
Projected: 14 car, 65 yards, 4 rec, 25 yds, 1 td
