A couple nights ago in Philadelphia, Pedro Martinez looked like the Pedro of old. He tossed seven innings, allowed only five hits and gave up no runs. Pedro also stuck out nine and didn’t walk a batter. He proved he still has his stuff as he outpitched Tim Lincecum, who also went seven, giving up two runs, and striking out eleven.
Pedro improved to 3-0 on the season and has looked very good in each start. Him not pitching in the first half of the season was the best thing for him. It’s now crunch time and he’s fresh. If Pedro and everyone else on the staff continues to pitch the way they’ve been pitching, watch out! The have got to be the favorite to win the NL again, right?

HAHA
I dont know, as good as the Phillies have looked, the Cardinals have looks just as good if not better. I see a Cardinals vs Yankees World Series this year.
If you break the teams down by positions, offense and defense, the the Phillies are either right there or ahead of the Cards….well except closer >:O!!!! lol.
SP- Yes Carpenter Wainwright Pineiro Smotlz and Boggs is good, Especially Carpenter and Wainwright, who both could win the Cy Young. But Hamels (WS MVP) Lee (Lasts years AL Cy young) aren’t washovers. Now I’ll say CC and Wainwright are having better years this year the Hamels and Lee, but Happ, Blanton, and Pedro are a better 3 4 5.
RP- LIDGE SUCKSSSSS! Enough said!
1B- Pujols .328, 44, 120 but Howard’s .277, 37, 116 is right there.
2B- Utley is the best in the game
SS- Ryan .289, 2, 30,10sb. Rollins .243, 18, 61, 25sb, plus another gold glove. hmmm…?
3B- DeRosa- .260, 21, 69. Feliz .268, 9, 65. Offensivly Cards have the advantage, defensivly Phils have the advantage.
RF- Holliday .315, 22, 93, 14 sb. Ibanez .274. 28, 80. Ibanez has fallen off the map since his DL trip.
CF- Rasmus .254, 14, 45. Victorino .295, 9, 55, 23 sb. I’ll take the hawaiin.
RF- Ludwick .270, 20, 87, 4 sb. Werth- .269, 31, 81, 13 sb. Call me baised, but I’ll take worth.
C- Ruiz is a great defensive catcher, but Molina is better and he can hit.
All in all, I like the Phillies staff, 2B, SS, CF, and RF.
3B is a wash.
Cards have the better 1B (not by much), C, RF, and Closer/Bullpen.
I think the Phillies would take the series…but thats just me.
Yes, I’ll call you biased. Switch things up, give us a different look. PLEASE.
What’s to switch up? There are the numbers. Thats all you need.
