*I’m going by basic fantasy scoring settings
1. Jason Witten
2008: 952 Receiving Yards, 4 TD’s
We know Romo loves throwing to Witten and T.O.’s departure should boost his TD total.
2008: 704 Receiving Yards, 8 TD’s, 1 Fumble Lost
A healthier Gates should lead to a better season.
3. Tony Gonzalez
2008: 1058 Receiving Yards, 10 TD’s
Coming off of an amazing year, but his move to a better team isn’t going to be better in the fantasy world. Ryan rarely hit the TE last year and unlike the Chiefs, the Falcons actually have options on offense.
4. Dallas Clark
2008: 848 Receiving Yards, 6 TD’s, 1 Fumble Lost
The TD’s will always be there for Clark which you gotta love. Manning throwing the ball and the loss of Marv help too.
5. Greg Olsen
2008: 574 Receiving Yards, 5 TD’s, 2 Fumbles Lost
Increased catches, yards, and TD’s each of his two years in the league. Cutler will pad his stats and make for a breakout third year.
6. Visanthe Shiancoe
2008: 596 Receiving Yards, 7 TD’s
Tied for the team lead last year with 7 TD catches and Favre loves his TE’s.
7. Jeremy Shockey
2008: 483 Receiving Yards, 0 TD’s, 2 Fumbles Lost
Shocked to see a guy who didn’t score last year and has battled injuries ranked this high? He and Brees have looked great this preseason, he plays in one of the best offenses in the NFL, and he’ll surely beat that goose egg right?
8. Chris Cooley
2008: 849 Receiving Yards, 1 TD, 2 Fumbles Lost
Probably a little low for Cooley but I feel the guys ahead of him have more upside. There’s no way he won’t beat last year’s lone TD, but Jason Campbell limits the potential he has.
9. John Carlson
2008: 627 Receiving Yards, 5 TD’s
A young guy with a lot of talent. Had an impressive rookie year, but most think the addition of T.J. Housh will limit his chances. I disagree to a certain extent because a healthy Hasselbeck should offset that.
10. Kellen Winslow
2008: 428 Receiving Yards, 3 TD’s, 1 Fumble Lost
Don’t like Winslow too much this year due to Tampa’s scary QB situation, but I just couldn’t leave him out of the top 10 simply because of his ability.
2008: 862 Receiving Yards, 2 TD’s, 1 Fumble Lost
Like Cooley, I may have ranked Daniels a little low here as well. He’s going to get his touches, it’s just a matter of whether or not he can get into the end zone. Five combined TD’s the past two seasons.
12. Zach Miller
2008: 778 Receiving Yards, 1 TD
Great young TE who should score more than once. Led the Raiders in catches and yards last season and Russell looks like he’ll play better this year.
13. Kevin Boss
2008: 384 Receiving Yards, 6 TD’s
Giants have a no real options at WR and he’s going to get his red zone looks.
14. Heath Miller
2008: 514 Receiving Yards, 3 TD’s, 1 Fumble Lost
The Steelers gave him a nice new contract and he should reward them by getting his TD totals back up to what we’ve been accustomed to (about 6). Check the status of the hernia surgery he had a couple months ago, though.
15. Dustin Keller
2008: 535 Receiving Yards, 3 TD’s
Don’t know how much he can improve with a rookie under center.
16. Anthony Fasano
2008: 454 Receiving Yards, 7 TD’s
Was the Fins’ season a fluke or should we expect more of the same?
17. Patriots TE
Either Ben Watson or Chris Baker is going to be a solid option. Problem is, I’m not sure who yet. Pay attention to who wins the job and pick him up.
18. Vernon Davis
2008: 358 Receiving Yards, 2 TD’s, 1 Fumble Lost
When will this guy ever live up to his potential? San Fran is probably the worst place for this guy but you just can’t seem to ignore his ability.
19. Tony Scheffler
2008: 645 Receiving Yards, 3 TD’s, 1 Fumble Lost
If Brandon Marshall isn’t involved as much as he has been, Scheffler could see more looks. It remains to be seen how the situation will play out, and let’s not forget that Orton is his new QB.
20. Brent Celek
2008: 318 Receiving Yards, 1 TD
Can’t guarantee much from him but he’s the Eagles’ starter and that counts for something.

“20. Brent Celek

600 yds 6 TDs easy.
TE’s have never thrived int he Eagles’ offense and with the amount of weapons they have on offense, how can you be so sure of that?
Because I called Andy Reid and told him to give Celek the ball so I don’t look like an ass on the website haha.
No but really, he proved at the end of last he’s a sure handed target for McNabb in the red zone. I like Celek a lot, he could breakout this year.
Sorry, no way Shiancoe is ahead of Shockey, Carlson, Cooley, Winslow and Daniels. Who cares that Favre is the QB.
Fun fact.. He outscored everyone you just mentioned last year, and that was with Jackson and Sage.
what about Ben Troupe
Interesting. That’s last year though. Shockey will have a better year in his second year in the offense and Carlson now has a healhty Hasselbeck throwing to him.
Yes, but Billy.. Luca said “fun fact” and then told you off.. then you come back and say that it was last year and now hasselbeck is back and shockey was put back together for a while so they will be better, but then Shiancoe just had one of if not the best QB in NFL history added to his team and you think that doesnt keep him over the TE’s you mentioned? Yeah sure you can use the fact that he’s getting old, but that should only improve the chances of him throwing the shorter passes to the RB’s and TE’s.
I think Carlson should be just under Shiancoe though, he’s finished strong last year and with the addition of Housh and a healthy Hasselbeck he should do great.
