Preview: AFC West

1. San Diego Chargers – Philip Rivers is becoming an elite quarterback in the league, L.T. and Gates are healthy, and the Chargers are eagerly awaiting the return of Shawne Merriman. That can only lead to one thing, success. Look for a first round bye this year Chargers fans.

1st Round Pick:
DE Larry English

Key Move: Darren Sproles 1 yr. $6.621 million

mcfadden2. Oakland Raiders – What?! The Raiders at number two? Here’s why:

• Darren McFadden is a freak of nature and when healthy could be a top 5 running back.

• Jeff Garcia will be starting by week 3, and Garcia is a winner.

• With Garcia playing QB, the defense will play like the top 10 defense it was two years ago.

I look for the Raiders to end their streak of losing seasons after their Super Bowl defeat to the Bucs in 2002.

1st Round Pick: WR Darrius Heyward-Bey

Key Move: Nnamdi Osomugha 3 yrs. $45.3 million

3. Kansas City Chiefs – I really like Matt Cassel. I also like the fact that he gets to throw to one of the most up-and-coming receivers in Dwayne Bowe. Although I think the Chiefs defense will cost them a lot of games, I think Cassel and Bowe will both have big years, mainly because they’ll be throwing the ball to try to catch up to their oppositions. KC should be happy with 6 wins as they are in rebuilding mode.

1st Round Pick: DE Tyson Jackson

Key Move: Matt Cassel $14.651 million franchise player tender

4. Denver Broncos – Josh McDaniels singlehandedly ruined this team. He ran the Pro-Bowl, franchise quarterback out of town, and now his best playmaker in Brandon Marshall wants out too. McDaniels is an idiot and I don’t know how the Broncos win more than 4 games this year. You are now relying on Kyle Orton and a defense that marginally improved. Its going to be a long year Denver.

1st Round Pick: RB Knowshon Moreno & DE Robert Ayers

Key Move: Brian Dawkins 5 yrs. $17 million
