Let ‘Em Play

kobe-ftI don’t know how anyone else feels, but I’m sick and tired of the free throw fest taking place this postseason. Players from 20 and 30 years ago have to be disgusted when they watch today’s basketball games.

It seems as if every time a player drives to the basket or receives the ball in the post a foul gets called. Game three between Orlando and Cleveland was almost unbearable. LeBron went to the line 24 times while Dwight visited the stripe 19 times. The Cavs as a team shot a total of 35 free throws and Orlando shot a whopping 51.

Game four of the Lakers, Nuggets series featured more of the same. LA attempted 35 free throws and Denver attempted 49.

During the Conference Finals, LeBron is averaging 15.3 FT attempts a game, Kobe 13.3, Melo 11.8, and Billups 10.3. Hopefully the NBA will notice these absurd numbers and allow for some better basketball to be played.
