Game One Notes: Very Rose-licious

Once you’re through thinking how much of an idiot I am for the title of this post, here are some quick tidbits from all of the game ones:

• Chicago vs. Boston might as well have been called Derrick Rose vs. Rajon Rondo
The rookie played like anything but, going off for 36 and 11, including 12-12 from the line in Chicago’s 105-103 upset over the Celts. Rondo did everything but win by going 29, 9, and 7.

• LBJ, LBJ, LBJ
The King led all game one scorers with 38. As for Detroit, well, they still look lost.

• The Spurs are known for their defense right?
San Antonio gave up 105 points on 53.8% shooting. A trio isn’t a trio without Manu.

• Too easy
Yao scored all of his 24 in the first half and was perfect on every field goal and free throw as the Rockets took the young Trail Blazers to school. Houston, don’t expect another 27 out of Aaron Brooks again this postseason. I mean it.

• The Lake show
Oh Mehmet Okur, where art thou? Not sure your presence would have really mattered anyway, but it damn sure would have helped. K-O-B-E.

• Philly wins?
To be quite honest, every Sixers game I’ve watched this season leaves me asking the same question, how the hell did they just win this game? Did I fall asleep during it? Oh well. Superman eats up defenders like Bugles but still lost. 11-13 for 31 points? Feed him.

• Josh Smith needs therapy
Smith treated game one like he was back in the slam dunk contest. Flash better do something quick or else he’ll be doing more T-Mobile commercials quicker than he’d like. Oh, and isn’t rapper T.I. supposed to be in jail? I saw him (minus the machine guns) flash across the screen while I was watching the game. P.S. – Schmidt, you rethinking your Heat in 5 prediction?

• Chauncey “BIG SHOT”
I think Billups has been to the playoffs a few times… Anyway, the guy couldn’t miss. 36 points + 8 assists + 8-9 from three = vomit inducing. I guess he figures he’ll be the one to finally take Denver past the first round, and by take, I mean singlehandedly.
